I love helping others to live their best lives – one with less stress, more meaning and purpose. I believe there is a connection between the mind, body and spirit and that addressing all these aspects is best in helping us grow and live more effective lives.

I provide a trusting, non-judgemental environment where I can work in a practical way to help develop your strengths, and help you create the life you want to live.

I origionally trained and worked for many years in the Uk as an Integrative/Transpersonal Psychotherapist and Counsellor.

I have worked in London in Private Practice as well as the NHS as a Counsellor and in a Bereavement Center.

Once moving back to Cape Town I have trained as an Accredited Life Coach, TRE Practioner and in Mindfulness(MBSR).

I now see clients face to face in Hout Bay, Cape Town as well via skype throughout S.A. and Internationally.

How I work

Through a process of self-discovery I will help you connect with your strengths and inner resources so that you can make more conscious choices about your life and relationships. I will assist you in achieving your goals – providing you with practical tools to manage your stress and help keep you focussed and taking actions to make the necessary changes in your life.
We will explore what inspires and motivates you, your values and what holds you back from taking your desired next steps.
My work has primarily been influenced by Cognitve Psychology, Jung, Mindfullness, Positive Psychology and many others.
I believe that our lives are a journey of discovery and that we can choose to grow and find meaning in the difficulties we may encounter.
I help my clients to become more authentic and self-compassionate.

Background

After completing a Social Science degree at UCT I went on to work in the corporate environment for a number of years which helped me to gain experience and understanding of that environment.
I then moved to the UK where I did a 4 year U.K.C.P. accredited Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling Diploma. This was then followed by working in London and then Cape Town in Private Practice for over 15 years. Since returning to Cape Town I have taken training as a level 2 TRE facilitator, and completed courses in Mindfulness, Coaching and Quantum Energy Coaching. I am registered with COMENSA as a Practitioner Member.

Tension/Trauma Releasing Exercises

TRE is a revolutionary technique which releases tension from the body due to everyday stress as well as any past trauma. It was developed by Dr David Bercelli who has worked with thousands of people around the world. As the body returns to a calm, balanced state this has a positive affect on all the systems in the body (nervous system, digestive, hormonal, cardiac) .

TRE is an incredibly powerful technique to help you move on from past trauma and to regulate your nervous system. As this is a body-centered approach there is no need to re-visit / talk about the trauma which could in fact be experienced as re- traumatizing.

Mindfulness

Many of us suffer due to our inability to live in the present moment. Our stress levels are increased by spending time worrying about the past or the future. Learning to practice mindfulness (focussing our attention in the now, without judgment or expectations) helps to reduce our reactivity and bring greater clarity in dealing with stressful events and our emotions.

Mindfulness helps us to be more compassionate towards ourselves and others.
